what is at least one example of something, which we know about the character that he/ she does not at first know? .
I think that Sammy deals with his felling more rather than of using his brain. He is different kind a person. First of all, he got so tense that he quit his job and than he realized that it did wrong (the way he said in the final line about "how hard the world was going to be" ). Before quitting his job, he never thought of any other things and he deals with his feeling. I am not saying that it is not ok to deal with feelings but sometimes we also have to think twice before we do anything. But Sammy took step of quitting his job just to be a heroic. He accepts that and obviously he feels that going through the type of trouble quitting his job and making this decision will cause him are preferable to the alternative. Sammy quits to be heroic for the girls, but he knew they really weren't going to swoon over his heroism, so his quitting was really for himself. .
How is the structure to the topic?.
A&P," by John Updike, is a pretty good story. But it's not the best short story I've read. Certain aspects of the story are very good, but the overall tale seems a little lacking in impact. It isn't that the story is told well, it's just that there isn't much to tell. .
The language used in the story is often different, original and interesting. It's not necessarily the language I would use, but it's interesting nonetheless. Phrases like "scoops of vanilla" and "two babies chalked up on his fuselage" are interesting to read, but I wouldn't want to read language like this a lot. Updike shows that the narrator rejects these things throughout the story whenever he uses lines or phrases like "sheep." Also, the use of the word "can" in reference to the girls' behind reminds me of something Sammy.
Does an event, theme, character, or Question in the text remind you of a personal experience?.
Sammy's feelings for Queenie changes when he hears her voice.
