Beowulf and Ice Age

There are very few stories that have lasted more than 1500 years. Luckily, for students everywhere, "Beowulf" is one of them. Along with "Beowulf" surviving over so many years, the world now has many movies that were made along the same storyline. Some examples are "13th Warrior", "First Knight", and "King Arthur". Though "Beowulf" has the same characteristics of many movies today, "Ice Age" is not one of them.
One difference between "Beowulf" and "Ice Age" is the main characters. In Beowulf, the main characters are humans. Beowulf is the heroic figure. Hrothgar is the friend that calls on Beowulf. There are many other people in the story. In "Ice Age" the main characters are animals. The main characters are Mattie the mammoth, Sid the sloth, and Diego the Saber Tooth. Also, in "Beowulf" the humans are the ones that speak. In "Ice Age" the animals are the only ones that talk. Even when there are humans in the movie, they do not talk; they grunt and groin, making weird noises. There are many differences in the main characters of the movie but there are more differences with the enemies.
In "Beowulf", Hrothgar calls on Beowulf to come and defeat Grendel. Beowulf knows Grendel is a bad gremlin. He knows he has to defeat the evil characters. With this, there is another difference. While Beowulf knows who he needs to defeat, or who his enemy is, the characters in "Ice Age" do not. Diego, the saber tooth tiger that Mattie and Sid meet, is a bad tiger. He acts as if he wants to help them find the baby's family, but he is really on a secret mission. The baby's family and tribe killed many of the tigers, therefore Diego was sent on a mission to find the baby and bring it back to the pack to eat. When he realizes he can not get the kid because Sid and Mattie will not give him up, he offers to go with them to bring him to his father. Because of this, Mattie and Sid do not know he is an enemy until the end.
