The word personal has a variety of definitions and different meanings to different people. When one thinks of a special place to write about, he or she must factor in the reasons that particular place is special. This includes the geographical location, people, and events that have taken place at a specific point in time at that place. Incorporating these three thoughts, I have chosen to write about Hot Springs Arkansas.
I grew up in the neighboring state of Texas. Over the course of my childhood, Hot Springs became a second home in the literal sense. Nineteen years ago, my grandparents and my father who are both avid investors and also involved in buying up realestate bought one lake house on two acres with a boat dock, and puchesed a beat up old pontoon boat. The lake that the house in located on is called Lake Hamilton. It is the Ideal pristine southern retreat. All of our family lives in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas so this immediately became the Mullins family vacation spot. In the mid eighties, Lake Hamilton, was not the exclusive hub for lake properties in the southern United States as it is recognized today, therefore our family was known in the area before the big "yuppie" real-estate boom in the area. .
Some of my earliest memories of spending time at the lake are learning to fish. Ever sense that, one of my favorite out door hobbies besides hunting has been fishing. Lake Hamilton is recognized for state record stripes in excess of fifty four pounds. Although the biggest freshwater fish that I have ever caught were in Texas, the best fishing excursions have always been in Hot Springs. As far as the hunting goes, I shot my .
first deer when I was eight years old in White county which is just fifty five miles southwest of the lake. We also have always hunted duck in Arkansas and would dress our kill at the house.
In the summer of 1996, my grandparents permanently relocated to the house from their previous home in Little Rock.
