The youths today are cynical and disinterested about their surroundings. They probably lost sight of their traditional values regarding life. They do not conserve past ideal values such as religion, country, progress, beauty, and truth. Their superficiality leads them to live and build a social reality made up of absent moral values.
Take for example the value of religion. The youth's interpretation of religious dogmas is rather superficial. The overvalued essence of materialism and consumerism that characterizes our current social reality supercedes what the faith dictates as moral. There are two cases; the people who subordinate God to their needs and others that believe that He was created for men by men to compensate personal uncertainty and to feel more secure in regards of life. The youths feel empty and they lack a basis on which to build the principles of life and they do not have a model. However, based on these feeling of incompleteness, they are not interested to change or embetter their personal condition in some way. This is simply because having certain goals and ideals means dedicating one's whole self to them. Today's youth however seems to be too selfish to concentrate on these standards, and come across as being solely interested in themselves and their own personal needs. In terms relating to religion, for example, even this contains important fundamental rules in order to become closer to God. Many times following these religious pillars is not easy, and goes hand in hand with sacrificing, which is something that young people of today know little or nothing about; they want everything, and expect it fast as well. The young does not care about the so-called "other world", but only about the present superficial one.
I doubt that this situation can be solved unless extreme measures are used such as crisis events like war and suffering. I believe that only with suffering people can find the right path toward a life full of values and moral depth.
