Everyone takes at least one history course during his or her educational career. I like history because it is in my genes, I can learn from it, and it is part of my life.
My father is a high school teacher and a college professor. He has his master's degree in Political Science; and he is a history teacher. I guess you could say I get my liking of history from my father. My Uncle David is a history teacher as well; and we are all a lot alike. I guess it makes sense that we all like history.
I think everyone can learn from the world's history. For instance, since World War II there has not been another World War (knock on wood), but we still obviously have not learned much from past wars and conflicts in general. People say "never make the same mistake twice". Well in order to avoid that second mistake we must learn about the fist time around from our history.
History is part of our everyday lives. It is not only what happened 100 years ago but also five days ago. We all use devices everyday that we have learned about from history. Cars, for example, have been improved upon by studying historical records of the first Model T's.
History plays a major part in everyone's life. It is important for us to study our past so we can better understand the world we live in today. Hopefully years from now, people will be able to look back on the present time and learn from us. My hope is that if they do learn things from us, it is not because of violence, religious persecution, bloodshed, or World Wars. I hope that they look back and are able to realize the many ways that our country has come together to show its patriotism during tough times. They should see and talk about all the great things we have done. I can only hope that I will leave my own mark in the pages of a history book so I can help people better understand the past.
