Personal Goals I Would Like to Achieve .
as a Student at the University of Phoenix.
I have many goals to achieve, as a student, and the University of Phoenix is but one stop on the long road to my ultimate goals. I ask myself what is life without purpose? We must make goals so that we know in which direction to go. In the words of Yogi Berra, "You got to be careful if you don't know where you"re going because you might not get there".(cited in www.wisdomquotes.com, 2002).
Getting a college degree has been a goal of mine since early childhood. Everything I have done thus far has been done with this goal in mind. I have broken through many barriers and accomplished many goals in the process of getting back to college. Over the next few years, more goals will be discovered and achieved as I go through the final stages of completing my degree. I look forward to these years with a mixture of emotions. The strongest emotion of all being, desire to keep going forward and learning more every day. As said by Aristotle, "All human beings, by nature, desire to know."(Gross, p.5) .
Doing my best has forever been my main goal in life. I worked hard in school and did not except the idea of obtaining a grade of less than perfect. Looking back, I can see that it was not a hard task to memorize and repeat what I was being told. Only after leaving school and working toward my personal goals did I actually start to learn. Sidney Jourard said it right when expressing that learning is a way of the world and that I will keep learning as I pursue my goals.(Gross, p.44) Now, many years later, I am ready to move forward with my education. Maybe, knowing what I know now, I will get more out of college than I would have, had I attended as a young adult. .
In order to do my best in school, I will have to first work on my presentation skills. I believe that a good presentation of the material can make all the difference in the world.
