Logos, Pathos and Ethos

In her article "Why I tell My Teenage Patients to Drink", Patricia Roy makes use of logos, pathos and ethos to persuade her reader.
The author makes use of logos by simply stating facts and statistics. In her article she states "since I've been advising my teen patients to drink, none has died in a drunken driving accident." Now we will take this as a fact and that makes this logos. She also says that "obviously peer pressure plays a role in teenage drinking", this statement represents a statistic.
The author makes use of pathos when choosing certain similar case scenarios. The part where she says "I can't claim credit but, I"d like to think that I"m helping the community with a group of teenage drivers who get home from parties safely", shows her emotion towards this, so this is an example of pathos. Also the author uses one scenario when she says, "the worst that could happen is you"ll have a very interesting dinner conversation that night". .
The examples of ethos are when the author says "I always acknowledge their ability and right to make choices". This showed ethos by representing her ethics and using the tools to not accuse, in turn respect was shown. Also, she showed her compassion in which she said, "if parents want to ignore my advice, I tell them that's fine".
In these past three paragraphs I have shown you a couple of the many ways the author of this article had incorporated logos, pathos and ethos in her writing.
