From the beginning, when he was attending Private Lakeside School in Seattle, Bill Gates tried go be the best. It took him a lot of time and work but when he was thirteen years old, he wrote his first software program. Later when he entered Harvard University more studying he had to accomplish. Through his studies, Bill developed a version of the programming language BASIC for the first microcomputer. Later on, guided by a belief that the computer would be a valuable tool in every office desktop and in every home, he began developing software for personal computers.
In 1975 Bill Gates with his childhood friend Paul Allen created Microsoft Company which will be their biggest success in their career. Under Gates' leadership, Microsoft's mission has been to continually advance and improve software technology, and to make it easier, more cost-effective and more enjoyable for people to use computers. At the beginning, Gates and Allen had less successful endeavors in starting a software company; however, after five weeks of not going to classes, not eating or sleeping regularly, their version of BASIC was written- and the world's first microcomputer software company was born. In time, they named it 'Microsoft'.
Right after that, Gates left Harvard and his biggest success was about to happened. In 1980, IBM, the computer industry leader, asked Gates to develop an operating system for its new personal computer. Bill felt that this might be a really huge opportunity for him and his company to develop. Cooperation with IBM was a huge success. IBM bought the microprocessors from Intel and licensed the operating system from Microsoft. Bill Gates bought some work from another company in Seattle and hired its top engineer.
