Supporting Animal Testing for Medical Benefits.
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to have a positive attitude about animal testing. .
Primary Audience Outcome: The audience has no doubts or opposition against animal testing for medical reasons and are motivated to take actions in support of animal testing.
Thesis: The Government should continue to support animal testing despite the continuing threat from animal rights groups, in the interest of making discoveries that may save human lives .
Attention Getter: Fellow classmates, Respected Teacher I would like to divert your attention to tell you all about Johnny Auqilino. You might ask? Johnny who? That's right he is a nobody. Johnny was born with the major pumping chamber of his heart missing, precisely the left ventricle, in other words he had a serious heart problem. Again some of you might think so what? The point is that his life was saved and it was saved because of a series of new techniques first developed on animals.
Psychological Orientation: Most of us today take medical advancement for granted. Say if we are down with fever, we don't even considering going to a doctor, and take an appropriate medicine and get cured. I know so many people who have undergone serious surgeries, or heart operations and have recovered from death. We certainly owe this to the doctor who does the operation, for it his skills but we forget that it that the doctor, and in general the medical field owes much of its advancements to animal research.
Logical Orientation: Today we are going to look at the advancements of medical research because of animal testing, the threat medical science faces because of animal rights groups who are against animal testing, and the steps government has been taken to protect the rightful interests of the medical field.
I. Animal Testing for medical reasons has a lot of benefits which Animal Rights groups ignore altogether whereas Nobel prize winners acknowledge animal contribution to the development of modern science.
