Storylines Contest - Making of a Generation .
September 11, 2001 - The entire world was effected by this tragic event, when terrorists hijacked U.S. airplanes and flew them into the World Trade Center our generation because it showed us what hate the world has, and it will always be something we will remember. We can tell our grandchildren, exactly where we w ere, and what we were doing when the towers were hit. .
2. Clinton Scandal - It was the Nixon scandal of our generation, only with a lot more sleezy accusations. The scandal was focused not so much on Bill Clinton's political life, as much as it did his personal one. The entire trial, Kenneth Starr and all, was a three-ring circus, complete with a detailed description, published in every newspaper, of the President's affair, which we could have done without. It showed us that no one, not even the President of the United States, was infallible.
3. The death of Princess Diana - Although our generation may not have been old enough to know her when she married Charles, the death of Diana made us all sit back and think about our own lives. I know many people, including myself and a good deal of my friends, got up early to watch the funeral on television, and cried with the rest of the world as this beloved woman, along with her charitable legacy, was buried. .
4. Oklahoma City bombing - The death of thousands of innocent people in the Oklahoma city federal building in June of 1997, left many of us wondering how anyone could hate the government as much as Timothy McVeigh. The trial that ensued, left many of us questioning our position on capital punshiment, and mourning the death of so many. I think it was my generations first glimpse of the damage hatred and terrorism can bring.
5. War in Iraq - We've always read about wars in history books, and heard stories from our grandparents, aunts and uncles, and even parents about the past wars that the United States.
