The government should use the death penalty as a form of punishment because it would lower the crime rate and society would be safer. .
How long will society allow vicious criminals to roam? How many innocent victims must die before serious consideration for hard and fast capital punishment as a rule will reign? If it were up to me, I would make the change today. All murderous villains on death row would die. Yes, I am in favor of capital punishment. I realize that using the death penalty for all crimes of intentional murder (when I say intentional, I am only speaking of criminal, not a police officer in the line of duty or a housewife using self-defense) may sometimes include the death of a person who was wrongfully convicted. .
"There is no proof that any innocent person has actually been executed since increased safeguards and appeals were added to our death penalty system in the 1970s. Even if such executions have occurred, they are very rare. Imprisoning innocent people is also wrong, but we cannot empty the prisons because of that minimal risk." (1 para. 1) .
"Given our thorough system of appeals through numerous state and federal courts, the execution of an innocent individual today is almost impossible. Even the theoretical execution of an innocent person can be justified because the death penalty saves lives by deterring other killings." (1 para. 3) .
"Although every aspect of each death penalty case is scrutinized for several years following the trial and sentencing, on no occasion in the past 25 years has it been proved that an innocent person was put to death in the U.S." (2 para. 5) .
.
As time goes on, the government will be forced to listen to the public's opinion in support of the death penalty. I say this because technology advances we have made and will make in the future will secure the guilt of the criminal.
"Observers say that increasing use of genetic testing will eliminate uncertainty about guilt, shattering the argument based on doubt and thereby strengthening death penalty support.
