The second class was the converted people of Spain. Third, in rank were the Spaniards who were Christians who had only adopted the customs of Islam but not converted. Fourthly, there were the Jews who had been protected. And lastly, were all the christians who dreamt and eventually carried out an uprising that was only completely successful 700 years later. .

             The Muslim army fought its way to the heart of Spain, where it was adopted by the people of Spain. If Islam was not adopted by all the Spanish, it was accepted by a large majority of them. Especially by the jewish community. The Jews of this time were being oppressed by the Catholics of Spain, and the Muslims saved, or rather liberated the Jews from the Christian superiority in Spain. Though not all Jews converted to Islam, they pretty much all accepted the Muslims who had saved them. .

             But, with their conquering, the Muslims brought with them a tax for the conquered people, that included the Christians as well as the jews and peasants. So, to not pay tax (Jizya), many people converted to Islam, as well as to benefit from the alms that Muslims had to pay for poorer people and those who needed money. .

             The Muslims helped the Jewish community of Spain because even if the Qur"an calls Muslims to fight for Allah, it's the same god the Jews as well as the Christians believe in. Now, Islam did not only appeal to the Jews, but it also appealed to the Christians as well. Islam is a religion that was ruled by scholars and teachers, rather than by priests and judges, so it appealed to smarter people and intellectuals of christianity as well.
