In today's world, the number of racist's people has dropped dramatically, but it will still be an issue in the future for a very long time. Most people think that we have come very far on the issue of racism. In reality, we have actually gone too far in some areas. Jobs are being taking over by less qualified people just because of their race. Companies hire people of different race to fill a quota to show that they aren't racists, but actually, the people they hire might not be the best person for the job due to the number of his/her own race that is already currently working there. It is a huge problem in society that isn't going to be easily solved.
Racism has had a very little part in my life. Race is one of the last things that usually come to my mind when I meet people. The only time in my life that I could honestly say that I had a problem with blacks was when 5 black guys pulled a gun out mugged me. I don't really know why, but deep down for a few days after, I felt a slight touch of racism due to that most criminals and gangsters are of black origin. That small feeling of hate went a way shortly after mainly because I told one of my black friends the story and he immediately asked me several questions. He wanted to know what they looked like and where they were. He promised me, that if I was ever in a situation like that again to call him immediately and he would come to back me up. He said, "I may not sound or look crazy, but if you ever wanted to get payback or need my help, don't hesitate to call me." I am not a violent person at all, but it made me feel so much better when he said that. Immediately after, I was back to my original standards of not being racist to anyone.
One of the major factors people become racists is because of the media. They tell stories of terrorist's from the Middle East attacking and killing people. That makes most people hate every race in the Middle Eastern.
