In modern society, people look upon laws as the clearest criteria for dealing with day to day affairs. Laws are supposed to create order, peace, and happiness for the people. Due to the varying levels of wealth, economic structures, technological capabilities, political systems and cultural traditions, different countries have different laws. People around the world are interconnected in many ways through culture, politics, economics, technology, and the environment. As global citizens, we are responsible for our Earth, its resources, and our fellow citizens. Every country should follow the same laws to help maintain order, peace, and happiness throughout the world. .
In order to make the world a more equitable and sustainable place, every country should constitute the same set of laws that are most effective and rational. By doing so, the quality of life will not vary so greatly from one place to another. There are two types of laws used in Canada, both criminal law and civil law. Criminal laws are used to protect society as a whole from wrongful actions where police can take action. Criminal acts can include traffic/road violations, public disorder, property and people violations. Civil laws are used to solve problems which occur between individuals or groups in which trained legal personnel and courts help solve. Types of civil laws include contract law, employment law, family law and law of torts. For instance, many countries in the Middle East such as Lebanon are chaotic when it comes to driving on the roads. There are no speed limits, few or no stops, no pedestrian crossings, seat belts and helmets are never worn, etc. This type of disorder can lead to the breakdown of a country, making it unsafe, and disturbing its peace. If there were traffic control laws that were the same as those put out in North America and in other parts of the world, there would be less mayhem in such countries.
