"This cat came out in red pants and a green coat and a pink shirt and socks, he had a grin on his face for five minutes he then hit his guitar a lick and broke two strings. I'd been playing ten years and never broke a string. There he was, two strings dangling he hadn't done nothing yet .the high school girls ran up creaming fainting. That was Elvis Presley when he was about nineteen, playing Kiglore, Texas."".
What Bob Luman described was a new phenomenon like nothing else at the time; Presley was the first major change in the eyes of the conservative world of the Eisenhower era. Music now existed in a context which opened up a completely new scenario for it (Wicke 49).
Continuing through the nineteen sixties, another rock'n' roll band, the Beatles, had the hype that Elvis did during the 1950's. The Beatles were one of the most important rock'n'roll band in history straight out of Liverpool, England. "Love Me Do- was the Beatles first official single. The song had a constant repetition of words and rather basic instrument elements which could hardly be any simpler (Wicke 49). There was a short medic motif "Love, love me do, you know I love you."" "I'll love you forever so please love me" was the entire message (Times Online). This song instantaneously became a hit especially to teenage girls and later the song became a legend. However why did the song become a hit? A Jazz man, George Melley, thought of the music as the start of a new revolution. The Beatles had something better than other music groups, which was the audience's approval rather than songwriters, the band's unique connection and the lack nave lack of concern of playing instruments. Their instrument chemistry and lyrics mixed perfectly together (Wicke 53). The Beatles became the first rock band to sign a contract with a large market company. Another factor that made "Love Me Do- a hit came from the making of a movement which demanded the involvement of listeners so that emotions turned into reality (Wicke 53).
