Should adults criticize movies meant for children?.
Almost every child has grown up watching one cartoon or another in their lifetimes. They view them as a fun ,.
entertaining way to enjoy themselves away from playtime. Should we, as adults, compare society to these .
cartoons and criticize every little thing we find wrong. I believe we should not try to read in between the lines and .
create something in the mind of our children that was not there in the first place. Cartoons are made to be fun ,clean .
family entertainment. They also give parents a break a couple of hours a day to straighten up the house or just to .
relax. .
I was astounded as we analyzed Margaret Lazarus` views on her side of "The Lion King". Having watched .
Disney movies growing up I reflected back onto how I interpreted these movies. As a child I loved sitting down to .
watch the newest Disney movie together with my family. I saw this as a time for togetherness. Children do not read in.
to them as much as Lazarus makes it out. Unless the parent puts it into the mind of the child, the child would never .
think any different about them from how they are made to be presented to the audience and innocent eyes of a child. .
For example, growing up I never understood why some of my friends were not allowed to watch them. They were the .
children of a preacher who believed that The Little Mermaid presented a type of magic that seemed fun to the kids. .
Ursela was seen as a demonic creation in his eyes, therefore influencing his kids to believe the same. .
I was angered by what Lazarus had added to the movie. This is a movie made for the general audience. She .
turned it into a PG-13 rated movie. I highly doubt this movie was put together for adults to add more than their two .
cents in. She commented on how the hyenas were of a certain race only because of the dialect that was used for .
them, which she referred to as ghetto. She made it seem like only hyenas of this race would live in an elephant .
