Mao Zedong's leadership style was different compared to the likes of Sun Yatsun, Yuan Shikai and Chiang Kaishek. Mao was a communist leader who believed in the right of equality, and because of that he got the support of many of the Chinese peasants. Mao leadership style was different because he believed that the peasants were the key to China, which is why he organized the long march across China to gain support from the all peasants. Unlike Chiang Kaishek who wanted the extermination of all communists, Mao knew that if he didn't have the support of the peasants he wouldn't have enough support for China to become a communist nation. After all the peasants made up a large number of the Chinese population, if they did not support communism they would not get any rights. The peasants made China what it is today.
Mao Zedong believed in communism, he believed that China would be better off if its people were treated equally. Mao wanted the Chinese people to get rid of capitalism because the capitalist were getting richer and the workers were getting poorer. By bringing in communism he made it so the government could control the economic production; land factories, businesses etc on the behalf of the people. He knew that the peasants were the key to China and he used this to his advantage. Mao wanted China to have a "Cultural revolution" to get rid of old customs, old ideas, old cultures and old habits. He wrote a little red book and gave it to the people of China, inside it told people how to they should live. It said that they should live with values, morals, and ethics. Mao also wanted the people to have free will to protest with the revolution. .
The people of China followed Mao because he believed in them, he believed in the peasants and he believed in equal rights for all. The majority of the Chinese people followed Mao because they knew he was going to do what's best for them. By becoming a communist Mao gained the peoples support because they knew he was going to help them out, he was going to put a stop to capitalism.
