One of the most unforgettable vacations, I have had, was going to Costa Rica, with my buddy's, in the summer of 2000. It was an early morning when we left for Miami International Airport. We flew from there to San Jose, Costa Rica. When we arrived in Costa Rica, we got all of our bags and our Sport's Utility Vehicle. During our three week stay in Costa Rica we enjoyed a few of the fun outdoor activities such as, surfing and fishing. Another fun thing in Costa Rica was enjoying the local people and eating in the cantinas.
The surfing in Costa Rica was almost perfect. The waves were smooth, big, and almost seemed never ending. When you are sitting on your surfboard, outback of the waves, you see, humpback whales spouting and jumping. When you look inland you see the beautiful mountains in the background. The water in Costa Rica is quite warm and very clear blue. At the river mouth breaks, where the huge crocodiles lay, the water tends to be very brown and murky. The surfing in Costa Rica was epic everyday and it is by far the best surfing I've ever encountered.
Fishing in Costa Rica cannot be described; it is just something you"d have to experience. The fishing there is excellent all year round and there are many different species of fish to be caught. Fishing from the shore, near the river mouths, we caught an abundance of snook, snapper, and rooster fish. On days that we were not fishing from the shore, we were out on a charter boat with Capt. Mike catching tuna, dolphin, blue trevali, and grouper.
After a long day playing in the hot Costa Rican sun, it is always fun and relaxing to go and hang out at the cantina at night. At the cantina you can eat dinner and have a few drinks; Also, meeting the local people there and dancing with the hot girls is always a blast. Everyone at the cantina always has a great time partying and dancing. There were a few times when my friend Mike and I would get a little crazy and go out and salsa dance with the hot ladies.
