To begin with, I choose the article about strategies for interpreting literature because I thought that the tips and tricks could be very useful for myself, and would help me a lot in the future. In this article the writer talks about the reasons why people read literature, Interpretation, and how we interpret. There are two important things that I agree with the article and one that I disagree with.
First of all, the article argues that in order to enjoy literature, we have to be able to interpret the literature. Get the facts straight in order to understand the details about the general ideas, and connect ourselves and our experiences with the work otherwise it will not live for us. .
We also need to develop hypotheses as we read, in order to motivate ourselves to continue to read and help us pick up the important details that might come up later. We also should not forget to analyze and write as we read, in order to gain better understanding.
Although these strategies may seem to be unimportant for many people, I believe that this process is unavoidable and vital to any reader.
Furthermore, I also believe the ideas that interpretation distinguishes the active reader from the passive reader. Interpretation is a process of examining the details of work of literature. It requires the reader to be active rather than just be passive, in order to uncover the meanings, and gain better understanding of the author's ideas.
In order to give the reader the pleasure of meaning, rather than just an enjoyment, most authors impose the task on us. Instead of just telling and address it directly to us what their idea are, they force us to figure out what their trying to say. Therefore it needs some interpretation skills.
However, in some point I disagree with the ideas, that people read literature most likely just because it is fun and speaks to us about important things. Although some people may not notice, there are a large number of people who read literature because it's enriches them: deepen their knowledge and also improve their vocabulary.
