PURPOSE: To show the different styles of managing conflict and some of the good and bad points of each, so that you will be able to use some of them in your life.

Today view of conflict is much different than it was in earlier years. It is viewed as interpersonal dynamic, which can be managed, resolved, and can even lead to creative problem solving. There are two major types of conflict they are interpersonal and organizational. Contrary to what most people believe the type you are most likely to run into the most even on the job is interpersonal.

INTERPERSONAL CONFLICT:.
Interpersonal conflicts are often the most difficult to handle. Interpersonal conflicts are when two people see the same thing in two completely different ways. .
Some people are harder to deal with than others because of their personalities; conflicts that result from this are often called interpersonal. Some of the personality types that can be difficult to deal with are: strong leaders, independent workers, group workers, followers, and victims. The reasons these types are difficult to deal with vary with each type. Some reasons may be obvious while others are not so obvious. For example a group worker may be difficult to deal with because they may become dependant on others, lack responsibly, and become lazy. On the other hand the follower doesna think for him or herself and just waits for instructions.
Other interpersonal conflicts can result from your beliefs being challenged. Your beliefs are shaped by all your years growing up, and as you enter the professional stage of your life these beliefs become your value system. But what happens when these beliefs or values or challenged?.
Some beliefs or values you grow up with that might be challenged are the expectations that younger reports to older, less experienced report to more experienced, women report to men, and minorities report to whites.
