Having someone explain to you the problem of Euthanasia from the point of a definition would make almost no sense, but reading a book written by someone who experienced this problem, is easier to understand, and gain more knowledge about.
This book is about a registered nurse who talks about her experience with hundreds of extremely-ill and dying patients in dealing with the moral and legal aspects of euthanasia. She has learned how to give advice to patients, family members and friends when deciding whether this is the right thing to do. Marilynne Seguin was used to making it her duty to preserve someone's life as long as she possibly can, but was then being begged by the patients to die.
I think this book is organized very well. It is separated into 11 chapters, followed by 6 appendixes. In each chapter a lot of detail goes into what is being read, so the reader has a complete understanding of what was going on during that time. I have found a lot through the book there are charts, or sections with points to give more explanations. For example one heading is "What makes a good doctor? (pg.31). the book also has a lot quotes or sayings that have been put into a large font, and in bold to catch your eye. Marilynne Seguin has defiantly given an insider look at what is involved in euthanasia. .
At the start of the book Seguin gives and outline of cases, to give the reader an understanding of what type of people she was experiencing, from all ages, to all races. In the back of the book there are 6 appendixes which include a living will, glossary, selected readings, support groups and sources of info.
I believe the author has defiantly accomplished her goal which was to give an all around understanding of euthanasia, with a very raw view of what goes on "behind the scenes". I am very convinced that the book is reliable; I would refer to it and its source if ever needed. I feel the book is relevant and realistic, for someone who didn't even know what euthanasia was, it did a good job of making me understand, and realize the many different aspects she dealt with.
