In these clippings they were very normal with no disabilities at all and were living a regular life. In these breaks food and drinks were also provided as refreshments. The event began with a welcome note and followed by an impressive lecture by Brenda Premo, who is the co-organizer of this event. She is suffering from albinism and also mild sight loss, but has achieved so many degrees and also has served as the director of the California State Department of Rehabilitation. She was just amazing in her ideas and impressive in her speech. She also made some really critical comments on this society, which overlooks and suppress women, and specially women with disabilities and also some of the early barriers that almost every woman has to go through after she is disabled. But, with her sarcasm she was also very jovial and light hearted. Then there were some panel of speakers, consisting of disabled women like Suzanne who is blind, Cristina who is paralyzed from head down due to an accident and finally Corinnia who has hearing disability since she was a child. All these three women proved that in spite of there disabilities they did stick to hard work and dedication to overcome the challenges they faced and had decided in their mind to achieve their goals. They all shared the same view that in such bad times they had to remain self-discipline and stay very independent. Then the event moved on, with poetry, music piece and then an art show by other disabled women present at the event. All these presentations were really marvelous. .
I would now move on to show how this event is and is not related to our topics in globalization. In the welcome note, Ms. Brenda had mentioned that though women face many problems after their disability, the scenario is not as worst as we can imagine. She said that many institutions are specially made for working with such women and help them out to a great extent in achieving their goals.
