Why You Should Rethink American Values.
The United States of America is known by people worldwide to be one of the most powerful countries in the world, if not the most powerful. However, in my opinion there are many flaws that seem rather poor to be put on the resume of the most powerful country in the world. I hope to evoke some sort of though about your set of American values and your views towards this country. I am not asking you to join Al-Qaeda or anything drastic like that, just simply think about our country.
Imagine for a second seeing an alien ship pull into port somewhere in America. A race of beings that none of us have ever seen before emerge from within the ship. Being the "peaceful" Americans that we are, we offer them something as a token of peace. One day these beings start pillaging our cities, raping our women, and slaughtering our children. The firepower that they posses is far supreme to anything we have ever seen. The beings introduce sickness that we have never imagined. Within a few years of being dominated by these beings the Americans are few in number. We have been pushed out of our country. A few hundred years go by, and the beings decide that maybe they were a little unfair to us. So as a way of apologizing they offer us a whopping 2% of our original land back. Now imagine that the Americans are in fact the Native Americans and the "beings" are the white man coming over from Europe. It is truly a sad story, and sadly a true story.
This entire country was built on a lie. The first line of the United States Declaration of Independence reads, "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal- Indians, women, and blacks were far more deplorable than any white bread, blue collar "true American". Americans sure did a number on the Indians. The argument of whether or not a woman is equal to a man in certain aspects is still alive today.
