Everyone faced obstacles through their lifetime. They all tried many different ways to overcome their problems, or challenges. They seek out for helps from others; they develop a relationship with someone. Someone who they feel comfortable being with, someone who can help them through hard times. This is one reason why I think men and women get committed in a relationship, a marriage. But after have a relationship, there are more obstacles await for the couples. Based on the U.S. Census Bureau and other sources, there were about 1,163,000 divorces in 1998 alone, and about half of all marriages now end in divorce. Why is the number so high? What causes the such soaring amount of divorce? There are many reasons for why we have such a high rate of divorce.
First of all, teens today seem to kind of rushing into a relationship too fast. Some of them don't understand clearly about relationships. They don't know how much commitment and sacrifices they have to make to keep or have a strong, healthy relationship. Maybe, a few of them just want to get into a relationship just for their own good or desire for sex. For example, some of the people I know felt in love with each other the first time they met. They decided to get marry blindly without even thinking or planning for their future. A few months after their wedding, they ended up with a divorce. Why? They felt guilty and unfulfilled after they got married. They wished they have gotten to know each other better before getting themselves into a serious relationship, a mess. They reached a deadlock of their relationship, and the only way they could think of getting out is through divorce.
Besides rushing into a relationship too fast, one major problems with marriages is miscommunication between the spouses. Communication is a vital concept of a good relationship. It demands honesty and commitment. Many couples today cannot communicate that well with each other.
