Hunter Lovins. This industrial revolution could be done by various ways, such as "efficient use of energy and materials and a reduction in waste can help the bottom line. Everything that is recycled reduces the expense of buying raw materials."(Roston 2002, p.48).
Industrial revolution is a theory created by learning from nature, the only system that actually perfectly efficient. Nature had been exist since the earth was created, and over billions of years, they had been recycling materials over and over, such as the cycles of water and carbon. .
"We can create new jobs, restore our environment, and promote social stability. The solutions are creative, practical, and profitable."(Hawken, [online]).
I have read the book of Natural Capitalism. It tells us that Modern industrialism came into being in a world very different from the one we live in today, fewer people, less material well-being, plentiful natural resources. As a result of the successes of industry and capitalism, these conditions have now reversed. Today, more people are chasing fewer natural resources. Another thing is today industry still operates by the same rules, using more resources to make fewer people more productive. The consequence is massive waste of both resources and people. This thought had become what we called as the fundamental of the New War on Waste. .
So what is Industrial Revolution actually? Industrial Revolution here means that companies need to concern that natural resources is as values as their capital asset, such as factories and machines. If companies keep practicing the used of natural resources in such an excessive way, shortly the world will running out of this important resources, Leaving only waste and pollution. I think this what we called as not sustainability development. According to "New War on Waste", the key to sustainability is making the market work with environment not against it.
