The Boarding House

" The Boarding House " is an droll, factual, yet funny story. The author arranged of an encounter of two different kinds of people, showing their diverse natures v/s that is some people take control of their lives while others let life occur to them. .
Mrs. Mooney, a owner of a boarding house, was an adamant, scheming and manipulative woman, who had separated with her husband and take over the care her two children. Polly, her daughter, was a girl of nineteen. She was having affairs with one of the young men in the boarding house, Mr. Doran. Knowing the matter of her daughter, Mrs. Mooney, however, kept her silence. She was waiting for a chance to get her daughter off her hands. Later, Polly got pregnant. The two young people didnt know what to do. Mr. Doran, on one hand, was irresolute. He doubted very much his love for Polly and their future. On the other hand, Polly was as much as helpless as Mr. Doran. Crying weakly, Polly couldnt think of anything. She was only waiting for a solution. At last, Mrs. Mooney had a meeting with Mr. Doran. He, eventually, was willing to marry Polly.
If Mr. Doran had acted in a more active way, that is to think of a way out, he probably could have changed the whole picture. As they both didnt have any idea coming up to help, her mother got the situation under control. Eventually, thus, she won. It should be obvious to the readers that the author prefers Mrs. Mooney's ways in dealing with problems v/s to take actions first before others do theirs- because this will add to your chances of success. Additionally, it could be a disaster to let things to happen. I believe that our fates are in our hand. If you want to change it, you better act for yourself, to fight for your rights, future, or anything you desire. So, dont sit down and wait for solutions or chances to come, but put yourself out to find an approach that's most beneficial to you.
