First of all, all humans are created equally, with nearly everything in common. Racism is a far less an issue then one many people may think. As a society we should strive for more, and not accept anything but equal ness and fairness. He who works harder gets better then he who does not work as hard. Yes, some of us are gifted in different ways and with different talents, but we should not take away from those who have worked harder and those who have earned better. Students have been forced into medical schools because of their race, over more qualified students. How would you like a doctor that was accepted into a medical school because of a racial quota program that was in place, and the doctor was to operate on your heart, even though he graduated at the bottom of his class? With racial quotas in existence this occurs far too often and there needs to be an end to it. It has been in existence for over a generation since Nixon first established racial quotas in college admissions, in the hiring, promotion, or government. Not to say that it was right then, but we have grown up as a nation since then and even if it was needed then, it surely is not needed now. But, all along it has always been racism in its own different opposite way. The only thing that racial quotas are doing is creating reverse discrimination and turning down candidates that are more deserving and who have done more work then those competing for a spot to only be turned down by the school of their choice and have to apply else where and hopefully be accepted into that other school.
There are many reasons why people are starting to realize the downside of racial quotas, and beginning to appeal them more often. First of all, racial quotas are discriminatory. It is wrong for the government to favor blacks and other minorities because they are not white. Racial quotas restrict freedom. They also lower standards and expectations because when African Americans and Hispanics are held to a lower standard then others and this sends the wrong message to them, and it could easily even be considered racist to the minorities even though they are basically being given acceptance into colleges.
