Weight training at home is convenient; and helps me stay fit. When you have three young boys at home, and they are involved in sports, you have to maintain your strength because as they grow older they get stronger and faster.
When I was in the Marine Corps, I had plenty of opportunities during the day to hit the gym for a good workout any time I felt the need, until I got stationed in California.
Although I lived only thirty-five miles from the base, it was a two-hour drive one-way. One day while I was at work complaining to a co-worker about how late I was getting home at night after my workout in the evenings, he told me that he had a set of weights he would sell me; I told him I would buy them.
For me, exercise has always been a type of release. I can always look at the time I spend working out as an escape from my problems, an hour in which nothing from the outside world can intrude. That's why I cant relate to those who say they don't have the time to workout; the only thing anyone needs to do is invest in a home gym and he or she will be able to make their own schedule for a good workout. .
I no longer worry about getting home on time from the gym; if I have to work late one night it doesn't matter because I can still get the workout I need. Another thing I enjoy about working out at home is I don't have to wait in line for someone else to get finished on the machine I need to use. It takes a lot of discipline and motivation to workout at home, but once I got adjusted and make it a routine, it's hard to stop.
Buying that set of weights has been one of the best investments I have ever made. If anyone says he doesn't have time to workout, I"ll tell him to buy his or her own home gym. After all, it's convenient and it's a good way to stay fit.
