An example of a practice in the Christian faith is that of the seven sacraments. Actually, this is one of the most fundamental aspects of Christianity and every good Christian should follow these sacraments. These sacraments, or rituals, start from birth with Baptism, and end with Extreme Unction. There are many global issues that Christianity lends itself to answer and with its teachings a Christian could have a chance of resolving these tensions in a manner acceptable by God. .
One of the ways to apply Christianity to the major global issue of war and violence is through the teachings of Jesus. This topic, due to recent terrorist attacks on the United States, is significant in showing how religion can ease the wounds of terrorism, and hopefully put an end to the violence. Jesus Christ from the beginning of his teaching of the word of God based his message on the belief of love. Love inherently contradicts war and violence, and there is proof of this in the Ten Commandments when it says "love thy neighbor as you love yourself". Also, in the Bible story was Jesus" message on violence professed that, when faced with a confrontation, it is better to let you aggressor slap you on one cheek. Instead of hitting him, turn your cheek and have him slap you again. Rather than having a violent confrontation this illustrates Jesus" teaching of love. Overall, with regards to war and violence Christianity is a religion that focuses on loving everyone and this belief itself is one that is on the right path to healing the problems of the world. .
Another Global issue that is beginning to be more and more prevalent throughout the world is increasing materialism and consumerism. This problem that originally was promoted by Western civilization is something that Christianity contradicts in some of its practices that have evolved over the years. This is shown through the most sacred holiday of Christianity (Christmas) and is a leading cause for concern regarding this topic.
