The Lure Of The Unknown

For those of us who have lived in the City of the Hills for the majority of our lives, Oneonta represents a place of welcoming familiarity. It is common for many citizens to know the name and location of every street, store, and restaurant situated our town. Understandably, each new addition to the makeup of Oneonta draws a high level of attention, as changes made to such a small locale are easily identifiable. Oneonta's Main Street is an area that, over time, has seen many of such alterations. Three years ago, for instance, a person venturing down this very road would have noticed a large, new addition to Oneonta. Freshly erected stood a giant, fluorescent, white and blue sign claiming the territory of a building called the Foxcare Center. The sign was in replacement of an older sign that had previously signified the presence of the Pyramid Mall. The mall had been closed for years, and the vacated area had drawn no crowds since the facility's discontinuation. Many had even forgotten about the vacant area, as they had grown accustomed to passing the remains of the deserted business. Three years ago, however, the fluorescent sign caught the eye of unsuspecting citizens that passed the region for the first time since its drastic alteration. What was the Foxcare Center that was so brightly advertised? Was it in the Pyramid Mall? What does it look like? Surely the center, out of sight from the road, was a mystery that needed further exploration.
             Who wants to belong?.
Upon closer examination, the Foxcare Center is identified as a vast healthcare facility. The inside of the building looks very professionally organized; the majority of the structure is composed of a health club called Healthlinks, and the remainder of the one-story building is neatly arranged in rows of doctor's offices. Besides the evidence of the overwhelming size, Healthlinks is clearly the draw to the building as it is located directly in front of the main entrance and dons an enormous illuminated sign declaring it's existence.
