Science, Keep It Rolling.

Science is what keeps our world constantly advancing. Today we now need science more than ever because we need it in order to survive. There have been many concerns regarding scientific claims such as "Global Warming" and "a hole in the ozone layer." Without science how would we be able to tackle those problems? With all the knowledge and advanced technology we have now, we still would not be able to solve these earth threatening situations. According to J. Michael Bishop's essay "Enemies of Promise", we only have one solution to all of these types of problems and that is science which has a long and consistent history of solving " many of nature's puzzles - which also benefits us by expanding out " greatly enlarged human knowledge" (Bishop 237). There has been much opposition to advancing science technologies by various groups who feel that it does not offer any definite solutions to problems but instead comprehensive hypothesis about different issues and also feel that it is a waste of money to fund scientists who only provide weak and unconvincing evidence for their claims or hypothesis. An example of this would be about how religious groups are pressing for creationism to be taught in public schools instead of having their kids learn about the scientific theory of evolution, which has not yet been fully proven, but merely again, a hypothesis. Regardless of other group's claims we should not generalize all of science from their point of view but recognize it as the key to unlock the doors to the future of medicine, understanding, and the exploration of all that is unknown. .
One of the most important areas that science has benefited our world is that science has cured many diseases. Without science we would still be stuck medically in the earlier times where many people would die over a simple cold. Today we have medicine and many other cures for sickness and disease.
