The first Bond film, starring Connery was Dr. No., released in 1962, it was about a mad scientist part of SPECTRE, a secret international crime organization, which plans to destroy the US Space Program; although low on gadgets this film was very memorable and was the starting point for this wonderful series. Next was From Russia With Love, released in 1963, which happened to be one of JFK's top ten favorite readings. In this particular film, James Bond is informed that a Soviet agent "XXX- has fallen in love with him and plans to defect. He is warned by M, his superior, that it may be a trap but Bond never missing a chance to be with a beautiful young woman, takes advantage of this opportunity. Many gadgets where shown in this film, from Bonds deadly attaché case to his folding sniper rifle which where both very impressive for their time. The next Connery film in the Bond collection happened to be Goldfinger, released in 1964, the most memorable and a family favorite, in which Bond plans to foil billionaire Auric Goldfinger's plans to steal Fort Knox's supply of gold. Along the way, Bonds meets many memorable characters such as Oddjob and Pussy Galore who become very deadly obstacles. Many impressive gadgets were also used in this film, from Bond's Aston Martin with an endless array of gadgets attached to it, to Oddjob's deadly Bowler Hat used to break his victim's necks. Another film, Thunderball, released in 1965, involves Bond getting a little wet to stop, Emilio Largo, SPECTRE's number two operative from dropping two hijacked atomic Bombs on major U.S. and English cities. With the help of Largo's mistress, Domino, a CIA operative, Felix Leiter, and Q's many gadgets Bond destroys the bombs along with Largo's hydrofoil boat. You Only Live Twice, released in 1967, almost became Connery's last Bond film when George Lazenby took over the role in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
