After a year and a half I returned home with nothing to show but an old truck and about a thousand dollars in my pocket. Once again not knowing what the future may hold in store for me.

I arrived in Sydney not knowing what to do. Usually I always knew what to do the first time in my life that I left a job with one not waiting for me somewhere else. After several months of doing nothing I became restless and moved to Shelburne and began working on boats doing mid-life refits. Once again past experience paid off I was an electrician again. A year went by and to not my surprise I wasn't happy again. After moving back to Sydney I again found myself not really working the odd jobs of painting and maintenance. I then met a girl, who said I was capable of more". that pushed me to different ends, not at first though. We began owning a new business surprise, surprise! After two years had past I could see that this too was not enough. My brother had talked me into going to UCCB to take a course in accounting, in which I did very poorly in for the first half of the course. I had always had a problem in exams, and if it weren't for John Mac Kinnon I would never be where I am today. my girlfriend talked me into attending school on a full time basis, knowing I could deal with exams after all, with the help of John, I decided to finally finish what I should have years ago. This led me to where I am today and what I always wanted to be A COP.

Policing has changed its face over the last couple of years. I couldn't apply before because of the schooling part of my life and now policing has changed as well. The back woods, city stereotyping, of policing is fading and the new community policing has emerged. Years ago if you had high school and were big enough you had the job. Today's changing pace has changed all that. You basically need a degree to go anywhere today. Politics affect us in everyway, especially policing; from young offenders, to corporate corruption.
