This is the term paper on the application of Rankine cycle in steam power plants, improved efficiency presented by PRABIN SHARMA.This term paper provides good knowledge of Rankine cycle. In this term paper, I have compared Rankine cycle with Carnot cycle, I have given the idea of the application of Rankine cycle in steam power plants and the methods to increase the efficiency of the Rankine cycle. As Rankine cycle is simply a hypothesis, all the matters presented here are based on theory only.

That is, the working plant undergoes a series of process and finally returns to the initial state. In introducing the 2nd law of thermodynamics, we consider the cyclic heat engines consisting of four separate processes.
