Details of the Problem.
The main purpose, as was intended, for the use of the computers at Dte Energy Trading is the capturing of necessary data to perform every day business practices. However, the computers are continually being overloaded and overrun with the use of massive cumbersome excel files, numerous digital certificates, and complex macros. Employees are frequently creating excel files and macros just to try to keep up with the growing business needs which in turn bog down the network and may lead to the loss of data. This process not only consumes hard disk space, but also slows the network speed down considerably. This interferes with those personnel who may only trade on programs which access the internet. These programs may also create problems with the operating systems themselves. The number of computers at Dte is rapidly increasing, and as the numbers increase, the need for administrative capabilities increases. As the network itself continues to grow and increase in size and speed, so does the load increase that is placed upon each of the computers that are connected to the Internet. More is required of these computers to be able to keep up with the vastly expanding Internet, and all of its software and hardware requirements. Considering that over 90% of the computers at DTE energy access the internet, the need of a more network compatible system with better security, administrative, and network performance becomes more crucial every day. The need is not only for better network features, but also for more reliable data and the decrees of time spent on repairing data and piecing together bits and pieces of data into a usable format.
