There are many ill affects and some positives of pornography. Pornography affects many people on different levels; however this paper looks at the affect that porn has on men. There is only one focus of this paper and that is the relationship between pornography and the actions of males who are exposed to it. Rape, homosexuality and child molestation will all be discussed.
Why does Mr. X get cancer form smoking and Mr. Y not get it? As individuals it one could argue that there is no connection between the two. Now looking at all smokers as a group and calculating the stats for smokers and the percentage that develop cancer it is easy to see the connection. One may use the same argument for porn saying that there is no relationship between porn and rape. Thousand of man watch pornography and never rape; however many man that do rape are motivated by images that they saw in a sexually explicit movie. Images of actual rapes or shots or women being violently abused during sexual relations with one or more men are sold and at porn store or are found on the internet. These depictions can erupt fantasies in a man's mind that will undermine ones internal inhibitions against carrying them out. In a study done by Neil Malamuth it was report that 20 to 30% of a group of 356 male students show substantial sexual arousal by a rape in which the women never shows any signs of arousal, only abhorrence and about 50 to 60% show arousal by a rape depiction in which the victim is portrayed as becoming sexually aroused at the end. This is clear that rape scenarios arouse men who view porn. The next question is: Do these fantasies get carried them out? The answer is clearly given by author Timothy Beneke from his interview with convicted repeat rapists. In one interview the rapist stated, .
