A Rhode Island native born in Providence, Anthony Miccolis is now serving as a member of the North Kingstown Town Council. Elected on November 5, 2003 with 5,266 votes Anthony Miccolis is now able to express his views with a political stand. Anthony grew up in Cranston Rhode Island where he attended public school. In 1997, he graduated from Marymount University in Arlington Virginia, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science .
Anthony has always had a strong interest in politics and can remember when he used to watch Ronald Reagan give speeches from the Oval Office. Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush have served as role models in the political sense for him. His direct role model and mentor is the late Senator Chafee. Anthony had the privilege of working with Chafee when he graduated from college. He believes that Chafee was a man who had "genuine concern for those whom he repressed.".
Working with the late U.S. Senator John Chafee and current U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee, Anthony knows that honesty, integrity, and guidance are the trademarks of a great leader.
In high school Anthony new that one day he would run for office. When he was in college he became more active in the political arena and ran for elected positions with student government. He served as his class president in college as well as a Judicial Board Representative. Participating in a number of internships in Washington DC, he had the opportunity to work with U.S. Representative Jack Reed (now Senator), Co-Chairman's of the Republican National Committee, and the U.S. Representative Joel Hefley. .
Belonging to the Republican Party, he has learned that a large part of your political affiliation is derived from your family; however, not all of his family is Republican. He has chosen to be a Republican because he feels that "This party has a long and rich history with basic principles. Individuals, not government, can make decisions; all people are entitled to equal rights; and decisions are best made close to home.
