Captain As A Job

His life is the boat that he is in charge of. He must treat the yacht as if it was his child, always checking up on it, and making sure that is has everything in line so that it can achieve it's up most potential. .
The starting salary range of a yacht captain is from 20 dollars to 25 dollars and hour. I interviewed a charter boat captain by the name of Warren Baughman and he said "I make around $25,000 dollars a year in cash." I know that does not sound like a lot but when I worked on the "Arms Reach 2" a private yacht owned by the owner of Coke, all my meals were paid for and were prepared meals by a five star chef. I did not have to pay rent because I lived on the boat, and I did not pay any utilities. What ever you make a year as a captain goes straight into you pocket as spending money or investment money. .
In the Occupational Outlook handbook it states that "Growth is also expected in the cruise line industry within U.S. waters." With so many jobs that apply to the water transportation field there is always money to be made as long as you have you certification.
Being a captain does come with some of it set backs too. The hours are long. You wake up every morning at 5:30 a.m.and work all day until 5:00 p.m. and even longer if you are fishing or at the dock preparing for the next day. When a boat is brought back to port for the day, the work is not over with you still must clean and do regular maintenance. Alot of the work that you do is just regular maintenance to the vessel. Another setback is, if you have a family you will have to spend a lot of time away. As a private yacht captain you take long trips far away from your home port. Most yacht captains spend the summers up north and the winter down south. There is a whole lot of traveling which can be hard on a family. Transfers can also be a problem in the private yacht career because you have to go wherever the owner wants you to go, you have no say so and you have to follow your job.
