MIrror Mirror On The Wall

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fattest one of them all" If you can somehow relate to that little saying, you are definitely not alone in this world. Thousands of women and a growing number of men look in the mirror every single day and absolutely hate what they see. The phrase "Mirror, mirror on the wall" is a phrase that is used all the time that goes along eating disorders. I remember hearing it when I was younger in one of my favorite fairy tales called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I remember learning fairy tales are not real; that is the same like the image you see staring back at you in that mirror everyday is not real. However everyone who looks in the mirror always thinks that is how they appear to the world. When you look in the mirror, you are seeing what your body wants you to see; you are not seeing the real true picture of how you really look and how the world sees you.
It is body image or self image that is the way we see our selves and tells us how we look, and why we see what we see staring back at us in the mirror. It involves our perception, emotions, imagination, and physical feelings how we feel about our bodies. This image of us is not always the same, it is always changing; it is very sensitive to changes in our moods, the environment, and our physical experience. Self image and body image is not based on the actual truth. It is psychological in life, and is influenced by our self-esteem and how we feel at that certain time, or day. It is not by the real physical appearance that others see us. It is something everybody learns throughout their life, to make them feel the way they do about themselves. The way we feel about ourselves and our bodies; comes from our family, our friends and the society around us.

Every single person in this world looks in the mirror every single day, as a force that is learned from the society. When we don't like what we see in the mirror, we try to do anything to change the image we see staring back at us.
