             One-Third of the work force of XYZ Restaurant Company is Hispanic, about half is Mexican-Americas and half is Cuban-American. We can not assume that both groups come from similar cultures.
             In Mexico, the educational system is controlled by the government and is offered to all students between the ages of 6 and 18 free of charge but, most students drop-out between the ages of 9-14 to work on the family farm or in the United States. The Mexican curriculum teaches the basic social sciences, English and Spanish. According to the 1990 census report, only 14% of Mexicans can read and write. In Cuba, the educational system is controlled and financed by the government as it is with the Mexican system. Students in Cuba begin schooling at the age of 6 and continue through the age of 16. The primary curriculum in Cuba covers basic reading skills in Spanish and math. The secondary level curriculum provides instruction in Spanish, math, sciences, history, and technical or agricultural production. A Cuban report in 1979 stated that over 90% of Cubans are literate. .
             Mexico is a country made up of 31 states that coexists with one central government, much like the political system in the United States. The head of the government is the president who is elected by the people for a six-year term. In 2000 the people of Mexico elected Vicente Fox Quesada as their leader. The Mexican's are agricultural families and many are very poor. The Mexican economic system relies heavily on the United States for trade; the United States in-turn relies on Mexico for skilled and un-skilled laborers. Mexico's number one export is petroleum. .
             Cuba is an island nation with a political system that is very different then the system in the United States and Mexico. Cuba is a communist country with one leader who oversees much of the economy in Cuba. Fidel Castro became the leader of Cuba in 1976 and currently holds the title.
