             Jordan is a small country in the Middle East that has little geographic diversity, little ethnic diversity, a strong government and a stable economy, at least for the most part. Using the CIA Fact book at www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook to find information, the life consisting in Jordan becomes very clear. .
             Jordan is located in the Middle East, northwest of Saudi Arabia with geographic coordinates of 31 00 N, 36 00 E and a total area of 92,300 square kilometers. The bordering countries of Jordan are Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the West Bank. The climate there is mostly arid desert with a rainy season in the West occurring November through April. The terrain is mostly desert plateau in the East and highland area in the West with the Great Rift Valley separating the East and West Banks of the Jordan River. As a result of the large amount of desert plateau, little of the land in Jordan is arable at only 2.87%, with even less being used for permanent crops at 1.52%. The remaining land is used for other various things. A big reason for this would be because of two specific natural hazards that Jordan faces every year. In fact, it is quite common for Jordan to have droughts and periodic earthquakes. Also, some of the other current issues that are faced there today include limited natural fresh water resources, deforestation, overgrazing, soil erosion and desertification, which does not help to lessen or eliminate their natural hazards (Background).
             The population of Jordan is 5,460,265 with 1,001,174 of them being males between the ages of 0 to 14 and 959,157 of them being female. Between the ages of 15 to 64, there are 1,764,061 males and 1,541,453 females. Lastly, there are 95,566 males and 98,854 females over the age of 65. The sex ratios are 1.06 male(s)/female at birth, 1.04 male(s)/female under 15 years, 1.14 male(s)/female 15 to 64 years, and 0.97 male(s)/female 65 and over with a total population of 1.
