How is the Constituion an Improvement Over the Articles Of Confederation?

The Articles of Confederation were written on March 1, 1781. They were written to establish a framework of government that the states could follow while they took the first steps as a nation. They were written while the Revolutionary War was still being waged. One would have to assume that The Articles of Confederation were hastily constructed so as to ensure the new nation had a starting point. The Articles had numerous flaws that would later be identified. In order to identify the flaws that existed in The Articles of Confederation, I will compare them to the Constitution of The United States of America. .
The most obvious differences between The Articles of Confederation and the Constitution is the national court system and executive department. The Articles did not address either issue, thus did not set up a national focus point nor did it set up a system to enforce the rules of the national government. The Constitution created the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch of the national government. This gave the nation an elected leader to debate the issues of the country and also a court system that would be able to enforce the nation's laws.
Under The Articles of Confederation, Congress was given no power to tax the people, nor were they given any power to regulate commerce. Thus, The Articles of Confederation created a nation that had no control over it's own finances mainly due to the past experiences it had with Great Britain's rule. This created a system where each state would control it's own finances and therefore each state would quarrel with it's neighboring states over tariffs that were being levied on another states product. The Constitution set up a system of checks and balances that would ensure that the taxes levied by the government were fair and just. The Constitution had also set up a system to ensure that the each state would not unfairly tax the products of it's neighboring states.
