A woman goes to college and works as she so that she will always be the first to get the job. She graduates and then gets the job of her dreams. Then she gets pregnant. What is she suppose to do, this is the job of a lifetime; she cannot stay home with the baby. Who will watch it? Where will it go during the day while she is at work? A daycare center? A private home sitter? A babysitter? Is childcare good for the baby? Will the baby feel neglected? These are all good questions that go through every parent's mind when deciding on who is to watch their child. The question is what are the answers? When it is time to go back to work after someone has a baby, what are they suppose to do? What is best for the child's well being? What are the effects of daycare on children?.
Body.
One major effect on a child is the environment that they are in. There are two different types of daycare that a parent has to choose from: private home daycare and Universal daycare. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. The childcare system in the vast underground network of care that is offered in private homes is often very bad. One-third of the homes are actually risky for the child's growth. The caregivers watch an enormous number of kids at one time, as much as up to eight or even twelve children by themselves. Having these many children to watch alone essentially lets the children do whatever they want to, for it is hard for the caregiver to care and interact with the children as they should ( Holcomb 17). .
In Universal daycares, corporately ran daycare, they usually have a child to staff ratio, which limits the number of children each worker is allowed to have. This allows the staff to interact and respond to the children, as they should. They also have health and safety codes that make sure the children's well being is always in the best care (Folbre 21). .
The quality of the daycare also has a massive effect on children.
