Germany is a country that was once divided into two, East Germany and West Germany. In 1934 Adolph Hitler came to power. He destroyed the parliament and other government things. He created this government called the Nazi Party. He began to blame many problems on the Jews and government. Hitler broke out war many times when he ruled Germany. He killed his wife and dog by poison after a war. After the war he shot himself after the poisoning of his wife and dog. So at the death of Adolph Hitler in 1945 came the end of him and World War 2. Germany was divided after World War 2 into four zones at the start of the Cold War. The west was divided between American, British, and French. The Soviet Union owned the east. The East was Communist and was under terrible rule. Many East Germans would escape and go to West Germany any way they could think of. West Germany was democratic. It was industrial and had many attractions. The Berlin Wall divided the two Germanys. Before anyone could enter each side they would go through Checkpoint Charlie. The end of the Soviet Union ended the two Germanys. In September 1990 and unification treaty was ratified by the Bundesrat and the People's Chamber. On October 3, 1990, the treaty went into effect and Germany became united once again. The Berlin Wall that once divided the country fell. It has now become a great economic country for Europe and many other things since the unification in 1990.
