Abortion

To furthermore iterate her point she additionally uses creative stories. .
One such story is where, we are captured by aliens who want to make genetic copies of our beings. By allowing the aliens this right we would result in the loss our life. Warren says that no matter how many lives would be made out of us, we should not have to give up our freedom for others. .
To further stress her point Thompson gains support from Peter Singer who suggests: "If a human is taken to be the same as person then the premise that the foetus is a human being is clearly false because no one can argue that a foetus is either rational or self-conscious-.
The weaknesses in Warren's argument are that if we support the notion that pregnancy can be terminated at any stage then abortion can end up just being another form of birth control. Instead of abortion being for those who actually have valid reasons, it becomes available to anyone for any reason, becoming just another form of birth control. .
Warren also fails to mention that abortions can damage a women's health. She says that it is the women's body and that she has the right to do what she wants to with it, to keep it healthy, but misses the point that abortions are not healthy for the women physically and mentally.
Another writer who takes a liberal viewpoint is Judith Jarvis Thomson. Thomson considers the situation if we gave the foetus full personhood from the moment of conception. She uses an example about a world famous violinist. If we were to wake up one day to find ourselves attached to, and keeping alive, a world famous violinist, does that mean we would be ethically obliged to remain attached to him?.
Thomson believes that no we would not have to surrender our freedom to keep him alive we would not be killing him, but allowing him to die by not giving our support. The pregnant woman has the same relationship with the foetus, as we would have with the violinist.
