The author's point of view in this movie about Frederick Douglas is one that is clearly prejudice. Through out the video facts are shown to support the fact that blacks were not treated as human beings. Slavery was the worst crime in the history of man and not enough was done in this movie to show how bad slavery truly was. This movie did present an accurate picture of the beatings, hardships, and obstacles that a 19th Century slave had to endure.
The author viewed Frederick Douglas not only as a literary genius, but an underrated one due to the color of his skin. Frederick Douglas was a great motivational speaker and skilled writer. His talents are unheard in the slave race, which was full of illiterate, uneducated blacks. If Frederick Douglas had been white, he might have easily become president due to his numerous talents.
Frederick Douglas was a stubborn, hard-nosed slave, yet he is arguably the best self-educated person in history. Douglas's ability to teach himself how to read and speak was astonishing. No one has done it as well as Douglas and it is Doubtful that anyone will. In conclusion, the author's point of view about his movie was that of an astonished child due to Douglas's abilities and distinguished stubborn personality.

I have learned that a slave, Frederick Douglas, taught himself literacy while growing up to become one of the greatest writers and speakers. Frederick Douglas was born on a southern plantation and was illegally taught to read by the wife of his master. Once his master learned of these actions, he banned Douglas from reading. While on his own as a boy, Douglas purchased a book and studied its speeches and articles.
Frederick Douglas is one of the most underrated scholars of all time. Listening to his speeches sends chills up my spine and it is a shame that it took 15 years for me to hear of him. After being beaten by masters and slave breakers, Frederick Douglas escaped to the north where he was safe.
