             Many factions are encouraging states to introduce bills that will prohibit credit-card solicitations on campuses. Congress is also considering a proposal that would allow credit cards to go to people under 21 only if they have parental approval or are financially independent. Critics do not believe that credit card issuers should be blamed for some students" credit troubles. They believe that " college is a place and a time that prepares students not only for earning a living but also for learning how to live independently. Learning how to manage money, to set spending limits, and to live within one's means is a necessary part of their lives away from home" .
             There are a few disadvantages to credit cards. If you"re not careful you could fall into a hideous trap. One disadvantage is to acquire too many credit card accounts. This could lead to losing track of payment details and deadlines. Another difficulty is not understanding the fine print. It is important to understand how the interest rates on credit card charges are calculated. The final disadvantage is falling behind on payments. This will result in an interest charge on all future charges. Credit card debt results from not paying off your whole credit card bill. Interest rates will significantly increase the amount you are paying and make it hard to get caught up on payments again.
             There are many more advantages to credit cards than disadvantages. One advantage is that there is a guarantee of satisfaction with purchases because you can stop payment on a credit card account for services you are not happy with. When you use your credit card, you also gain purchase points. These can be added up to get free merchandise. Credit cards are also a safe alternative to cash. If you carry around cash it can be lost or stolen. But if your credit card is lost or stolen, you can report it missing to the credit card company. The company will stop accepting any charges on the card and you won't be charged for purchases made by someone else.
