It seemed to me that in the movie "Cool Hand Luke", the author was trying to send out a touch of sarcasm, mixed with emotion and religious beliefs. Throughout the movie Luke Kept his religious beliefs intact with his personality and never let himself down.
In the first part of the movie, Luke showed us his weak side when he was drunk and knocking off the heads of parking meters. Then he quickly showed us the side of him that had no fear as he smiled at the police officers as they took him away. His sarcasm got him through a lot in the movie. Between wacking weeds and eating 50 eggs to the girl washing her car and smiling when they were told to throw dirt on the road over the tar. He always held his head high, and smiled. .
His emotions set him back a few times, but gave him a chance to think. Then his mother died it was obvious he was upset, and a few days later he ran away. When he was caught that time he came back with a sense of determination. .
Luke seemed to show a lot with his religious beliefs. HE made a cross out of his body on the table, called out to God in the middle of the road and ate 50 eggs, one for each man there. He always turned to God when he needed to, though it seemed like he knew he was talking to himself. He died in a church asking God for help. It seemed like God's answer to him was to end hi pain and agony.
Luke got to live a life in prison with his own beliefs and personality. He showed us his strengths and weaknesses, and how much he loved life through pain, and cherished every momeny of it.
