A student may also have to need to buy airline tickets or a hotel room in the event of a car breakdown or family emergency. Also, having a credit card in college allows students to build a credit history which, in the future, will allow them to qualify for larger loans, such as a mortgage. .
             Unfortunately, there are many risks of credit cards that outweigh the benefits. Every product on the market has its trade - offs, including credit cards. If a product or service is misused or abused, the risks are raised, whether they are financial or not. The misuse of credit cards can easily pull students as well as non students deep into debt before they know it. Even larger problems can arise if a student doesn't have the means to pay more than the minimum and charges on the account begin to pile up. Not only would a student incur a late fee, but interest fees will skyrocket and there will be blemishes on their credit history. Without good credit history, a graduate may not be qualified for a much needed loan. .
