Hollywood's next step was to classify blondes. By classifying the different characteristics of blondes Hollywood provided three different options' for the everyday Joe to choose from and become attracted to. The three most popular are commonly labeled the innocent blonde, the sun blonde, and the moon blonde.
The innocent blonde portrays everlasting childhood. She is the grown-up blonde woman-child. The innocent blonde is represented in many classic fairy tales. The two most famous are Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Both characters have everlasting youth and beauty. The most famous American doll that represents our all-American-innocent-girl-look- would have to be Barbie. For decades young American girls have grown up with Barbie. The innocent blonde is not sexual or carnal. This innocent blonde needs a protector. Men are attracted to her because they feel needed and important. Guys want to mother and shelter this blonde.
From the innocent blonde came the dumb blonde. This stereotype is at least a century old and was not just a way to put blondes down, but also all women. After World War II women had achieved much more prominence in our society and the laughs were a way for men to put the women's newly achieved success down.
The second type of blonde represents growth, rebirth and nutrition. This is the sun blonde. When the sun blonde is young she expected to learn home skills and when she grows older she is known as the blonde mother goddess. She is direct, honest, practical, and loves being in the presence of children. The sun blonde is known to enjoy sex, but it doesn't occupy her. Men know that they can be themselves around her and are attracted to her home making skills. Hollywood tends to add large hips and full breasts to sun blondes to emphasize her childbearing capabilities. A perfect example of a sun blonde is the queen of the home, Martha Stewart. In our contemporary world the sun blonde is the Great Mother.
